Monika plays 6 instruments, but at one point fell in love with the saxophone. At almost the same time, she discovered the magic of creating music: improvisation and composition.
She has studied at top music schools in Munich, Vienna and the US, has three University degrees as Master of Arts in Music (Saxophone, Theory and Composition) and has residences in Vienna and Munich.
On stage, Monika feels as comfortable as if she were in her own living room - with 150 to 200 performances per year, she is one of the most sought-after saxophonists in all German-speaking countries. Her repertoire includes jazz, pop, classical, soul, fusion and funk; mainly she is seen on her saxophone, but sometimes on keyboards or vocals as well.
She has given concerts throughout Europe, India, Taiwan, Algeria, USA and Russia.
She has given solo performances on such renowned stages as the Vienna Konzerthaus, Munich Philharmonic, JFC Jazz Club St. Petersburg, Porgy & Bess, Vienna State Opera, Augsburg and many more.
As a saxophonist, she has worked with: CK4, Big John, Hubert Tubbs, Sandra Pires, Monika Ballwein, Willi Langer, Christian Elsässer, Don Menza, Jay Ashby, Melinda Stoika, Incognito, Peter Kraus, Spider Murphy Gang, Gus Backus, Mostar acoustics, LJJB, Saxsisters, Henrik B, Swedish House Mafia, DJ Joyce Mercedes, Bella Wagner, Munich All Stars, Born For Horn and recorded CDs with CK4, Melotronic, Tiefenrausch, Teddy & the Lollipops, Electrad, PSI Electric Band, Vivienne Chesterfield.
As a rising young composer she has received requests for: orchestral and band arrangements for Stefanie Werger and Wolfgang Ambros, compositional assistant for Christian Kolonovits, orchestral arrangements and compositions for "Trumpets in Concert", arrangement for Heini Haas & Orchestra, the "Nouvelle Cuisine Bigband ", commissioned works of the Vienna University of Music, ASO Orchestra Vienna, as well as many other bands and chamber ensembles.
As a film composer, Monika has written and produced music for feature films like the Swiss production "The movie of your life", which earned many awards and which enjoyed a long-run in the cinemas. She was also involved in several short films, commercials, and recorded the music of the hit series "Marienhof" (ARD) for many years.
Since 2012, she has held a teaching position at the Vienna Conservatory (Pop Department) in song writing, pop composition and music theory.
